The minister of women’s affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has visited the minors detained for allegedly participating in the #EndBadGovernance protests.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, the minister made the visit at midnight.
The minors are among 72 defendants facing charges of treason.
Sulaiman-Ibrahim said the children’s rights and well-being would be safeguarded while justice is administered.

Meanwhile, the Presidency disclosed that the Nigeria Police would on Saturday (today) submit case files of minors who were arraigned on Friday on charges of treason for participating in the August hunger protest to the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi.
The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Public Communication and Orientation, Sunday Dare, disclosed this on Saturday morning.
Dare, a former Minister of Youths and Sports, under the ex-president Muhammadu Buhari government, stated that Fagbemi would begin a review of the case file in line with the President’s directive on Friday.
Dare said, “Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi is expected to begin the review of the case file of the 76 persons in court on charges of arson, terrorism and treasonable felony this afternoon in line with President Tinubu’s directive yesterday.
“The Nigerian Police will this morning transfer the casefile to the office of the AGF and hand over same to the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) today anytime from 11am , Saturday 2nd November, 2024.”
