The head coach of Nigeria’s U-18 handball team, Emeka Nnamani, has declared that the team will make the country proud in the 2024 IHF Africa Men U18 Tourney which will begin in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on Saturday, 2 November 2024, Sports247 reports.
The coach gave the assurance after he released the final squad ahead of the competition in Lagos
on Thursday.
“These set of players are picked from a large pool of great handballing players in the U-18 category, and I know they will make our country proud as they did at the zonal phase in Ghana earlier in the year,” Emeka said.
After weeks of intensive preparation and training at the Rowe Park in Yaba, the team will leave Lagos today, (1st November 2024) for Addis Ababa for the competition which will take place at the Ethiopian Sports Academy in Addis Ababa from November 2 to November 6 2024.
The Nigeria side will begin the defence of the title won two years ago in Congo Brazzaville against Zambia 3 pm on Saturday (2nd October 2024) as well looking for a qualification ticket to the Intercontinental phase of the IHF competition where Nigeria finished third in Kosovo last two years
Nigeria qualified for the IHF Africa Men U18 tourney by defeating Ghana 33-25 to emerge as the champion of the IHF Trophy Men Africa Zone 3 Phase in Accra, Ghana, earlier in the year.
