Nigeria has continued to maintain it’s dominance in Africa Scrabbles as seven Nigerians make the top ten at the 15th Africa Scrabble championship which ended in Kigali on Sunday, Sports247 reports.
Nigeria’s Oluwatimilehin led other Nigerians in the top 10 as he was crowned the winner of the championship with a game to spare in Sunday to become the youngest players to win the Africa Scrabble Championship at 24.
He clinched the trophy in round 31 after defeating compatriot Abdulmumin Jimoh with a margin of 152 points, 572-422 capping a fantastic showmanship by winning 24 games with total cumulative points of 2082.
He became the 14th Nigerian to win the championship as he took out the reigns of Africa best of last edition champion, Enoch Nwali who won in Lusaka in 2023, 14th edition of the championship.
Other Nigerians that also shine like a million stars at the 2024, 15th edition of the Africa Scrabble Championship is George Ezinore.
George Ezinore came second ahead of Noble Onoshevwe, Abdulmumin Jimoh came fourth while David Ojih occupied the sixth position while the defending champion Enoch Nwali, finished seventh and PANASA President Cup holder Victor Godwin ended the competition in the 10th position.
Nigerians have won 14 out of the 15th Africa Scrabble championship to underline the country’s prowess in the words game both on the continent and beyond.
